Erin Cressy, lcswa
Erin is a queer-identifying therapist, facilitator, and social worker offering individual & group therapy in-person in Durham, NC, and virtually throughout North Carolina. With an MSW from The University of Houston and a BA in Theater from Southwestern University, Erin brings both clinical expertise and creative presence to the therapy space.
Erin’s clinical work is guided by the principles of disability justice and liberation psychology, and seeks to challenge dominant frameworks for conceptualizing and treating mental illness, as well as the social conditions in which they occur. Drawing from psychodynamic, somatic, and relational approaches, Erin supports clients in strengthening their intuition, self-compassion, and insight into the internal and external forces shaping their lives. Her practice is grounded in deep knowledge of chronic illness/disability, complex trauma, grief and loss, consensual non-monogamy, and queer sexuality. Her therapy groups are designed to de-center the therapist as "expert" and cultivate a container for communal healing and empowerment.
Erin is also excited to offer 1:1 Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for clients who are seeking concentrated, brief support in working through a specific trauma or concern. ART treatment generally varies in length from 1-5 sessions (each 1-2 hours in length) and can be done in an intensive format, and/or adjunct with talk therapy. More information on ART can be found here.
As of 2026, Erin is currently only accepting new clients for short-term ART and therapy groups.
