Art Therapy

Sometimes words are not enough. We need other tools to help us express ourselves, to build our sense of esteem and mastery, or to help us learn to calm and soothe ourselves.

Art Therapy is a type of therapy that uses art processes and materials to help express difficult experiences and feelings. In art therapy, you might use drawing materials, paint, sculpture materials such as clay or sculpey, fabric and fiber arts materials, or other types of art media. Art therapy can help express and explore issues that are difficult to talk about, and can help increase self-awareness. The sensory qualities of art materials help us learn strategies for coping, relaxation, and self-regulation.

At Birch Counseling, art therapy is offered by Meg. She provides art therapy to children, teens, and adults.
